Can a scratch & sniff smell test indicate risk of Parkinson’s disease?

Since its start in 2000, the Michael J. Fox Foundation has funded more than $1.5 billion in Parkinson’s research, partnering with researchers, the biopharma industry, patients and visionary philanthropists to accelerate urgently needed solutions to patients’ unmet medical needs. The New York Times has called the Foundation “the most credible voice on Parkinson’s research in the world.”

This landmark study, the Parkinson’s Progression Markers Initiative (PPMI), launched in 2010 It has studied 1,400 individuals with and without Parkinson’s disease over the course of years, creating the world’s most robust repository of data and biological samples ever assembled in Parkinson’s research.
